Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy
1. Archiving Policy
TATANAN: Jurnal Hukum dan Syariah is committed to ensuring the long-term availability and preservation of all published scholarly content. The journal strives to ensure that every published article remains accessible to readers and researchers over the long term.
To support this objective, the journal implements the following archiving strategies:
1.1. Open Journal Systems (OJS)
All journal content is managed through Open Journal Systems (OJS), which supports the digital management and distribution of scholarly publications. Articles, bibliographic metadata, issue information, and supplementary files are managed through this platform.
1.2. LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)
The journal supports digital archiving through the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, provided that the service has been activated and configured for the journal. This system enables preservation through archival copies distributed across participating library networks.
1.3. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
TATANAN seeks to utilize the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to support the long-term preservation of digital content. Integration, registration, and preservation status will be verified based on the journal's configuration and the services in use. The journal will only state that its content has been preserved through PKP PN after this status has been successfully verified.
1.4. Self-Archiving
Authors are permitted to deposit and share the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, personal repositories, or other academic platforms, provided that the original publication source, journal information, and DOI, where available, are properly acknowledged. Self-archiving must comply with the applicable copyright and publication license terms.
Through this policy, TATANAN: Jurnal Hukum dan Syariah strives to maintain the security, preservation, and long-term accessibility of its scholarly publications.
2. Digital Preservation Policy
TATANAN: Jurnal Hukum dan Syariah is committed to maintaining the accessibility, integrity, and long-term availability of all published scholarly content. Digital preservation is an essential part of the journal's responsibility to maintain a reliable and sustainable scholarly record.
2.1. Commitment to Digital Preservation
TATANAN strives to ensure that published articles remain accessible over the long term, including in the event of technical failures, website disruptions, server migrations, or changes in publishing technology.
The journal seeks to maintain published content, including article files, bibliographic metadata, issue information, and other relevant publication records.
2.2. Regular Backups
The journal carries out regular backups of its Open Journal Systems (OJS) installation and publication data. Where applicable, the backup process includes:
- The journal database;
- Published article files;
- Article metadata;
- Issue and volume information;
- Journal configuration data;
- Uploaded supplementary files; and
- Other important digital records related to publication.
Backups are intended to reduce the risk of data loss resulting from server failures, human error, cybersecurity incidents, or other technical problems.
2.3. Preservation through Open Journal Systems
TATANAN uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) as its journal management and publishing platform. Published articles and their metadata are managed through this digital publishing infrastructure.
The journal periodically reviews the integrity and accessibility of published content and performs system maintenance whenever necessary.
2.4. DOI and Metadata Preservation
Published articles are managed with bibliographic metadata that supports article identification and discovery and, where applicable, the Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
Article metadata is maintained to support identification, citation, indexing, and long-term scholarly access. Where corrections, article retractions, or other post-publication updates occur, the relevant metadata will be updated as necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
2.5. Preservation during System Migration
If the journal changes its hosting provider, upgrades its publishing platform, or migrates to a new system, reasonable measures will be taken to preserve:
- Published articles;
- DOI information;
- Article metadata;
- Issue and volume records;
- Author information;
- Supplementary files; and
- Other important publication data.
Migration procedures should include backups and verification processes to minimize the risk of content loss and maintain the integrity of publication data.
2.6. Continued Access and File Integrity
In the event of temporary website or server disruptions, the journal will make reasonable efforts to restore access to published content using the latest verified backups.
Published articles are intended to remain part of the scholarly record and should not be removed solely because of technical or administrative changes. Content removal will only be considered under exceptional circumstances and in accordance with the journal's Correction, Retraction, and Expression of Concern Policy.
The editorial team monitors publication files and metadata to ensure that they remain readable and accessible. Where necessary, digital files may be migrated to suitable formats while preserving the integrity of the published scholarly record.
2.7. Responsibility and Policy Review
The Editor-in-Chief and the journal management team are responsible for overseeing the implementation of this archiving and digital preservation policy, in coordination with the journal's technical administrator or hosting provider where necessary.
This policy will be reviewed periodically to reflect technological developments and best practices in digital archiving and the preservation of scholarly publications.
