HAKIKI: Jurnal Integrasi dan Studi Islam applies a double-blind peer review system. In this system, the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential from each other in order to ensure an objective, fair, and unbiased evaluation process. Each submitted manuscript will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject area of the manuscript.

The purpose of the peer review process is to assess the originality, academic quality, methodological accuracy, relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, and the manuscript’s contribution to the advancement of knowledge.

Review Stages

  1. Manuscript Submission

Authors submit their manuscripts through the Open Journal System (OJS). All manuscripts must comply with the author guidelines and ethical requirements of HAKIKI: Jurnal Integrasi dan Studi Islam.

  1. Initial Editorial Screening

The editorial team conducts an initial screening to ensure that the manuscript fits the journal’s focus and scope, follows the required format, and meets the minimum academic quality standards. Manuscripts that pass this stage will be checked using Turnitin Similarity Check to detect potential plagiarism.

  1. Editor-in-Chief Evaluation

The Editor-in-Chief evaluates the manuscript in terms of originality, significance, relevance, and suitability for publication. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s criteria may be rejected at this stage without being sent to reviewers.

  1. Reviewer Selection and Invitation

The handling editor invites reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic, taking into account their area of specialization, research interests, and the absence of conflicts of interest. The manuscript is sent to reviewers in anonymized form.

  1. Reviewer Response

Invited reviewers may accept or decline the review request based on their expertise, availability, and any potential conflicts of interest.

  1. Review Process

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript thoroughly and provide objective and constructive comments, together with one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject
  1. Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief and the handling editor consider all reviewer reports before making an editorial decision. If there is a significant difference between reviewer recommendations, the editor may invite an additional reviewer.

Possible editorial decisions include:

  • Accept
  • Accept with Minor Revision
  • Accept with Major Revision
  • Resubmit for Review
  • Reject

The peer review process generally takes approximately 2–10 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.

  1. Communication of Decision

The corresponding author will receive the official editorial decision together with anonymized reviewer comments and revision instructions, if applicable.

  1. Revision and Final Publication

Authors are required to revise the manuscript in accordance with reviewer comments and recommendations and resubmit the revised version within the specified deadline. The revised manuscript may be reviewed again by the reviewers or assessed directly by the handling editor, depending on the extent of the revisions required.

Once accepted, the manuscript will proceed through editing, layout, proofreading, and online publication. All articles published by HAKIKI: Jurnal Integrasi dan Studi Islam are available under an open access model, allowing readers to access and download the articles freely.
