HAKIKI: Jurnal Integrasi dan Studi Islam is committed to maintaining the availability, accessibility, integrity, and long-term sustainability of all scholarly content that has been published. This Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy is intended to ensure that journal articles and publication records remain accessible in the event of technical disruptions, technological changes, system migration, or changes in publishing services.

1. Commitment to Digital Preservation

HAKIKI: Jurnal Integrasi dan Studi Islam considers published articles to be part of the permanent scholarly record. Therefore, the journal strives to ensure that all articles, metadata, volume and issue information, and supporting publication documents remain available and accessible over the long term.

Digital preservation is implemented to protect journal content from the risks of data loss, system damage, server failure, technical errors, and changes in publishing technology.

2. OJS-Based Archiving System

HAKIKI: Jurnal Integrasi dan Studi Islam uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) as its electronic journal management and publishing system.

Through OJS, the journal stores and manages:

  • Article metadata.
  • Author names and information.
  • Abstracts and keywords.
  • Published article files.
  • Volume, issue, and publication year information.
  • Supplementary files, where available.
  • Relevant publication process records.

The journal management team performs regular system maintenance to maintain the accessibility and integrity of publication data.

3. Data Backup

As part of its data protection measures, the journal management team performs backups of important journal data in accordance with the technical requirements of the system and hosting services.

Backups may include:

  • OJS databases.
  • Article files.
  • Publication metadata.
  • System configurations.
  • Supporting files and attachments.
  • Other important data related to journal operations.

Backups are carried out to minimize the risk of data loss caused by server failure, human error, technical disruption, security incidents, or other unforeseen circumstances.

4. Metadata Preservation

The metadata of each article is maintained continuously to support identification, discoverability, citation, interoperability, and long-term accessibility.

Metadata may include article titles, author names, affiliations, abstracts, keywords, publication information, bibliographic references, and Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) where available and registered.

In the event of corrections, retractions, or other post-publication changes, the metadata will be updated in accordance with journal policies in order to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

5. Digital Object Identifier (DOI)

Articles that meet the journal's publication requirements may be assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) as a persistent digital identifier.

DOIs are used to support the continuous identification and retrieval of articles even if the location or structure of the journal website changes.

6. Preservation Through External Networks

HAKIKI: Jurnal Integrasi dan Studi Islam supports the use of external digital preservation systems that are compatible with OJS, including preservation networks developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), provided that the technical requirements, registration, and deposit processes have been completed.

The journal will only state participation in and successful deposit to a particular preservation network after such participation has been technically verified.

HAKIKI: Jurnal Integrasi dan Studi Islam does not claim that its content has been preserved through a particular network before the preservation process is fully active and confirmed.

7. System Migration and Technological Changes

In the event of server relocation, changes in hosting providers, OJS upgrades, or migration to another publishing system, the journal management team will make every effort to preserve all important publication records.

Priority data during the migration process include:

  • Published articles.
  • Article metadata.
  • DOI and bibliographic information.
  • Volume and issue data.
  • Author information.
  • Supporting files.
  • Other important publication data.

The migration process will be accompanied by data backup and verification procedures to minimize the risk of content loss or corruption.

8. Continuity of Access

If the journal website experiences temporary disruption, the journal management team will make reasonable efforts to restore access to articles and publication data using available backup copies.

Published articles will not be removed solely because of technical, administrative, managerial, or publishing platform changes.

Removal, correction, retraction, or substantial modification of published articles will only be undertaken for justifiable reasons and in accordance with the journal's Correction, Retraction, and Expression of Concern Policy.

9. Digital File Integrity

The journal management team strives to ensure that published article files remain accessible, readable, and usable.

If a particular file format becomes unsupported due to technological developments, the journal may migrate the file to another format while maintaining the content, identity, and integrity of the published article.

10. Open Access and Archiving

HAKIKI: Jurnal Integrasi dan Studi Islam applies Open Access principles so that published articles can be accessed by readers without financial barriers in accordance with the journal's Open Access Policy.

Authors may archive and distribute their articles in accordance with the copyright and licensing terms applied by HAKIKI: Jurnal Integrasi dan Studi Islam.

The implementation of the Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy is a shared responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Team, Journal Management Team, and Technical Administrator, with support from the hosting provider where necessary.
