Program Edukasi dan Simulasi Mitigasi Tsunami Berbasis Kearifan Lokal: Evaluasi Kesiapsiagaan di Pantai Panjang

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of a tsunami mitigation education and simulation program that systematically integrates local wisdom to enhance community preparedness in Pantai Panjang, Bengkulu.


 Design/Methodology: Employing a Participatory Action Research design, the five-month program engaged 120 residents across stratified community groups. Data were collected through pre-post preparedness surveys, structured simulation observations, and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using paired t-tests and thematic triangulation.


Findings: The intervention significantly improved composite preparedness scores from 58.4 to 84.2. Culturally contextualized protocols accelerated evacuation response times by 35% and strengthened collective coordination during crisis scenarios.


Practical Implications: The model offers a replicable framework for BPBD and local governments to implement culturally grounded disaster risk reduction in coastal zones.


Originality/Value: This research fills a critical gap by empirically demonstrating that contextualizing modern mitigation protocols within indigenous coastal knowledge systems substantially increases sustained behavioral adoption and community resilience in high-risk tsunami areas.
