Perubahan Nilai Sosial dan Budaya dalam Masyarakat Modern: Studi tentang Pergeseran Tradisi Lokal di Tengah Arus Globalisasi

Abstrak

Purpose: This article examines shifts in the meaning, functions, and practices of local traditions in modern society amid globalization and develops a framework for strengthening cultural sustainability that positions communities as the primary actors.

Design/Methodology: This study adopts a qualitative literature review using thematic synthesis of theories of social change, cultural globalization, identity, hybridity, and the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. The analysis is not based on surveys or field observations conducted by the author.

Findings: The review shows that traditions change through shifts in intergenerational authority, the organization of social time and space, digital mediation, cultural commodification, and identity negotiation. Globalization does not necessarily eliminate traditions; rather, it can simultaneously generate adaptation, hybridization, and an erosion of meaning.

Practical Implications: Cultural preservation should strengthen community participation, intergenerational education, documentation based on informed permission, equitable benefit sharing, and cultural tourism governance that is sensitive to local values.

Originality/Value: This article proposes a Social Negotiation-Based Model of Tradition Sustainability that connects the transmission of values, adaptation of practices, community control, and evaluation of the impacts of modernization.
